Erik ten Hag Facts

  1. He shared a contentious relationship with footballer Cristiano Ronaldo, who lambasted the Red Devils manager during his explosive interview with Piers Morgan in November 2022. In response, the club announced Ronaldo’s immediate exit thus, bringing a swift end to his second spell at Manchester United.
  2. In August 2022, Erik became the first Manchester United manager in over 100 years to lose his first two games in charge. Before him, John Chapman had met a similar fate in 1921.
  3. With Ajax, he set the record for being the fastest manager to reach 100 wins (in 128 matches) in the history of the Eredivisie league in January 2022.
  4. Erik earned his first managerial trophy by winning the KNVB Cup with Ajax during the 2018-2019 season. Curiously enough, Ten Hag had previously won the KNVB Cup during his stint with Twente as a player in the 2000-2001 season.
